An alley off Higashimon-gai, Kobe
White lantern found?
You made it.
Five counter seats, six at tables. A griddle running until 5am, deep in an alley. Good as a first stop, better after you have missed the last train.
- Step 1 Get to Higashimon-gai Head for the Lawson on the Higashimon-gai strip. Anyone can get this far.
- Step 2 Take the alley Turn into the alley near the Lawson. You cannot see the shop from the main street.
- Step 3 The white lantern The white lantern is us: ground floor of the 7KM building. Once you are here, just sit down.
Straight off the griddle.
Cooked on the teppan in front of you and served from it. These are the regulars' orders.
- Horumon yakisoba The house dish. People come down the alley for this one.
- Garlic fried rice Works as a finisher or a first plate.
- Harami (premium skirt) On the griddle, kept simple.
- Bokkake soba-meshi A true Kobe taste: noodles and rice fried together.
- Mentaiko cream pasta Pasta from a teppan shop. Better than it has any right to be.
- Shochu, a deep shelf Tell the master what you like and he will pour something.
A long-night kind of place.
